Another clash with the press! Photographers elbowing each other for room nearly break Oval Office lamp – only for Trump's quick-thinking bodyguard to save the day

  • Larger than usual contingent of Korean photographers clambered over each other at the White House to catch a glimpse of President Moon Jae-in
  • Group of shutterbugs pushed a couch into an end table and sent an expensive lamp tumbling toward the floor
  • Keith Schiller, Trump's longtime bodyguard, made a one-handed catch
  • 'Easy, fellas. Hey!' a visibly annoyed Trump scolded. 'Fellas! Fellas! Easy! ... Wow, you guys are getting worse'

A crush of photographers and reporters nearly broke a lamp in the Oval Office on Friday as they elbowed for room to see Donald Trump meet with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

It's customary for a limited contingent of journalists, called a press pool, to be allowed into the president's office to witness him greeting heads of state.

But Moon's arrival attracted a larger than usual contingent of foreign press from Korean outlets, and the White House gamely tried to accommodate them all.

Few in the group were familiar with how Oval Office photo-ops work.

    SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO

White House director of Oval Office operations Keith Schiller (right) saved an expensive lamp from tumbling to the ground on Friday when a crush of Korean photographers slid a couch into an end table as they jockeye d to get pictures of South Korean president Moon Jae-in

A visibly annoyed President Donald Trump scolded the press but Moon seemed amused

The lamps on the Oval Office end tables have heavy marble bases, making the near-tumble unusual

As they clambered over each other to get the best view, still and video cameras smacked at least one print journalist in the head.

A few photographers pushed a couch. Which nudged an end table. Which sent an expensive lamp tipping over toward its doom.

A quick-thinking Keith Schiller, the former Trump bodyguard who now serves as director of Oval Office operations, saved the day with a one-handed grab.

'Easy, fellas. Hey!' a visibly annoyed Trump scolded. 'Fellas! Fellas! Easy!'

'Wow, you guys are getting worse.'

    Moon seemed amused.

A sequence of still frames from this C-SPAN video shows the lamp starting to tumble and Schiller moving quickly to catch it

An unusually large crush of photographers and TV journalists is commonplace when heads of state from the Far East visit the White House

As impatient shutters snapped fast enough to sound like a Washington downpour, the president turned to his Korean counterpart.

'They knocked the table down,' he said.

'It's actually a very friendly press. Don't let that get you, although we just lost a table.'

Schiller, one of Trump's longest-serving aides, was famously dispatched to the FBI quarters on May 9 with a letter telling then-director James Comey that he was being fired.

Comey was three time zones a way in California and found out by watching TV.

Press release: EOS 6D Mark II and EOS Rebel SL2 DSLR Cameras Provide Photographers with Improved Features over Predecessors

MELVILLE, N.Y., June 29, 2017 – In celebration of the innovation behind today's generation of high-quality digital SLR cameras on National Camera Day, Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is excited to announce the new EOS 6D Mark II and EOS Rebel SL2 DSLR cameras designed for advanced-amateur and entry-level photographers, respectively. The EOS 6D Mark II camera is ideal for budding photographers looking to take their creative DSLR photography skills to the next level by shooting with a Full-frame CMOS sensor DSLR camera to capture beautiful high-quality portraits and striking landscapes, even in low-light situations. The EOS Rebel SL2 is a small, light, and compact camera with high-performance capability that allows users to get creative when capturing their special family moments or travel experiences.

"It seems fitting that today, a day set aside to commemorate the invention of a tool that forever changed how we view the world, we introduce two new DSLR cameras to the Canon family," said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A. "In an industry where choices are abundant, providing consumers with the photographic tools that match their developing skill levels as they continue to embrace their passion for photography is a long-standing goal of Canon and stands at the core of our research and development. The new EOS 6D Mark II and EOS Rebel SL2 DSLR cameras are the result of Canon's dedication to providing a wide range of camera choices for photographers of all skill levels, whether it's someone taking their first picture or video with a DSLR camera or those looking to make the jump to a Full-Frame sensor camera."

"After just one day in Yellowstone National Park with the EOS 6D Mark II DSLR Camera, it was clear that the camera is greatly improved over its predecessor," said acclaimed nature photographer and Canon Explorer of Light Adam Jones. "Landscape and nature photographers will be very happy. The new and improved autofocus is way ahead of the previous generation and performed extremely well, even in very low-light situations."

EOS 6D Mark II DSLR Camera

Designed with enthusiast photographers in mind, Canon's popular and versatile EOS 6D DLSR camera historically served as the gateway for enthusiasts to step-up to Full-Frame DSLR cameras. The EOS 6D Mark II DSLR camera features several enhancements over its predecessor model, and its benefits include:

  • 26.2 Megapixel Full-frame CMOS Sensor
  • Optical Viewfinder with a 45-point All Cross-type AF System1
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF with Phase-detection & Full HD 60p
  • DIGIC 7 Image Processor, ISO 100-40000
  • Vari-angle Touch Screen, 3.0-inch LCD
  • Built-in Wi-Fi®2, NFC3, Bluetooth®4 and GPS technology
  • High-speed Continuous Shooting at up to 6.5 fps
  • Dust- & Water-resistant
  • Below: DPReview's first look

    EOS Rebel SL2 DSLR Camera

Stepping up from a smartphone or point-and-shoot camera for photography can be intimidating. With the introduction of the new EOS Rebel SL2, a powerful, small, and lightweight DSLR camera, Canon hopes to alleviate some of those concerns for first-time DSLR users.

This small yet powerful camera features the world's fastest AF speed* at 0.03 seconds, allowing for quick focusing on subjects in the frame. When designing the new EOS Rebel SL2 camera, Canon took into consideration feedback from entry-level photographers who expressed interest in learning how to go beyond a camera's program mode. The result was the creation of a convenient new user interface called Feature Assistant. With the EOS Rebel SL2 camera, users will be able to see on the camera's Vari-angle Touch Screen how switching modes on the mode dial or tweaking camera settings like aperture and exposure compensation can alter the image they are about to capture, thus guiding photographers on their way to capturing more compelling images, such as ones with a shallow depth-of-field or being able to give moving subjects a frozen or flowing look.

The EOS Rebel SL2 DSLR camera features several other enhancements over its predecessor model, the EOS Rebel SL1, including:

  • 24.2 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) Sensor
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF
  • 3.0-inch Vari-Angle LCD Touch-Screen,
  • Built-in Wi-Fi®2, NFC3 and Bluetooth®4 Technology
  • Full HD 60p & External Microphone Input
  • DIGIC 7 Image Processor, ISO 100-25600
  • Optical Viewfinder with a 9-point AF System
  • Feature Assistant
  • Small and Lightweight Body
  • Pricing and Availability

The EOS 6D Mark II DSLR camera is scheduled to be available in late July 2017 for an estimated retail price of $1,999.00 for body only, $3,099.00 with the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM II lens and $2,599.00 with the Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 STM lens**. OH NO! Suhana Khan got so SCARED when photographers mobbed her. Here’s the video

Recently SRK's daughter Suhana Khan was spotted at Tubelight screening along with her father and other companions of the film industry. During her way to the place where she was alone, nabbed by some media photographers. After finding herself surrounded by paparazzi, Shana's body language has changed as she was looking quite nervous and continuously hiding her face from the flashing cameras.

Furthermore, Photographers kept asking her to pose for the photograph but she was dodging them like an unaware. The incident has happened when Suhana was waiting for the lift to reach the place. Notwithstanding, photographers behaviour was quite annoying as they should not make star kid uncomfortable. Shahrukh Khan has asked photographers to click the pictures of their kids with the love and leave them after taking one or two clicks. Watch him in this video requesting photographers to show good behaviour while clicking kids.

Kylie Jenner Accidentally Flashes Her Crotch to Photographers

You know what's hard? Getting out of any seat at all while wearing a minidress. The fact that celebrities can and do get out of vehicles on a daily basis in their tiny designer dresses and manage not to have wardrobe malfunctions left and right is, to me, nothing short of a miracle.

    Advertisement - Continue Reading Below

So it's really no surprise that on Saturday, Kylie Jenner accidentally flashed photographers who were snapping her as she exited her car wearing a ~leggy~ number.

As these things go, however, it wasn't so bad. And anyway, she looked flawless as she headed into Craig's in L.A. She paired her teensy, rainbow-sequined look with black Alexandre Birman heels and gold bracelets, lending the look a bit of a '60s vibe.

Franklin photographers share their Cuba experience

Rooftop view of Ambos Mundos, also known as the "Hemingway Hotel". The Morro Castle lighthouse is in the distance.(Photo: John Wylie)

Two Franklin photographers are pleased to have had the opportunity to recently travel to Cuba due to the easement of travel policies by the Obama administration. Dave Braud and John Wylie had never met each other but at the request of The Tennessean they gathered together to reflect on their respective trips to Cuba and their shared interest in photography.

Braud teaches photography and is the Director of Galleries at O'More College of Design in Franklin. His parents gave him his first camera when he was in the fifth grade. He proudly displays that camera on a shelf above his desk at Franklin Creative Suite, a work collaborative in downtown Franklin where Braud operates his photography studio.

"Hernandez was a Cuban exile and would tell us stories about his homeland. Between Hemingway and Hernandez, I was hooked."

    John Wylie, photographer

Wylie, a Franklin native, has been taking photographs since he was five years old. He further explored his interest in photography while at Auburn University through elective classes in dark room techniques.

After college, photography remained a hobby for Wylie as he worked for the family business, Wylie Steel Fabricators. The family sold the business in 2010 thus giving Wylie more time for photography. Requests for photo shoots by friends and family multiplied and eventually his hobby became a part-time career.

Night shot of El Gran Teatro de la Habana. (Photo: John Wylie)

Traveling to Cuba was on each photographer's "bucket list" for many years. Braud's interest in the Caribbean island was first sparked in 1997 by the release of the Buena Vista Social Club, a studio album collaboration of Cuban bandleader Juan de Marcos González and American guitarist Ry Cooder along with Cuban musicians.  "The record sleeve for that album captured my attention with its 1950s vibe. It made me want to learn more about the country depicted in those photographs," Braud said.  Wylie attributes his interest in Cuba to his education at Battle Ground Academy where he first read Ernest Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea" and where he was taught by longtime BGA Spanish teacher, the late David Hernandez.

Life in Havana, Cuba. (Photo: David Braud)

"Hernandez was a Cuban exile and would tell us stories about his homeland. Between Hemingway and Hernandez, I was hooked," Wylie said.  In 2016, the Obama administration eased travel restrictions between the United States and Cuba, which allowed for "people to people" educational trips. This enabled Americans to travel on their own to Cuba without special permission from the United States government.  Braud and his wife Sarah immediately began planning a trip along with their two best friends, Brad and Stacey Puncochar. They reserved their accommodations in Havana through VRBO.com (Vacation Rentals By Owner), booked their flight, and made the trip in January 2017.

Life in Havana, Cuba. (Photo: David Braud)

"We stayed in an apartment owned by a Cuban family. Their daughter volunteered to show us around during our visit. It was like having our own tour guide," Braud said.  The daughter, 18, did not speak English but Sarah Braud knew enough Spanish to communicate with her. She showed the travelers where to eat and what to see.

"We were so impressed with how clean it was in the area of Havana where we stayed. Yes, it was old and there was a lot of dirt, but there was no trash anywhere," Braud said. "You'd constantly see people sweeping their front stoops and cleaning. They took great pride in their neighborhoods."  Wylie planned his trip through a contact in Miami, Florida. His itinerary was tailored to reflect his interest in photography and Hemingway. Wylie traveled in April, 2017 and stayed in a private "casa" in Cojímar. He had the assistance of a guide and a driver throughout his visit.  "Cojímar is a small fishing village in East Havana where Hemingway kept his boat and fished when he was on the island. It's also where the movie 'The Old Man and the Sea 'was filmed, which starred Spencer Tracy as the old man," Wylie said.  Both Braud and Wylie would like to return to Cuba someday, but it is unclear how President Trump's recent directive will impact the accessibility of a repeat journey to Cuba.

Life in Havana, Cuba. (Photo: David Braud)

The new regulations intend to restrict individual American travelers from visiting the island on people-to-people trips. Under Trump's directive, people-to-people trips would now be permitted only for groups and must be organized by a licensed tour operator. However, direct commercial flights and cruises from the U.S. will still operate.  At a news conference on June 19 in Vienna, Austria, Cuba's foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez, said that his nation was not interested in negotiating with the Trump administration over these proposed policy changes. Rodriguez called the proposed policy changes "a grotesque spectacle straight from the Cold War."

The new policy is reported to not affect American travelers who've already scheduled upcoming trips to Cuba, however individuals interested in traveling to Cuba should consult the U.S. Department of State for up-to-date information on current regulations. Visit https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country/cuba.html for more information.  Find Braud's photography online at www.davidbraud.com and follow him on Instagram, @davidbraudphoto. Shadowing Other Photographers – Expectations and Outcome

There is one quick and easy way to get ahead in fashion photography and it's to help others out. But is sharing really caring?I've been shadowing, helping and assisting other photographers for a couple of years now. Big fashion pieces require big fashion big teams, and these teams are generally either unpaid, interns or shadowers.

There is one quick and easy way to get ahead in fashion photography and it's to help others out. But is sharing really caring?

I've been shadowing, helping and assisting other photographers for a couple of years now. Big fashion pieces require big fashion big teams, and these teams are generally either unpaid, interns or shadowers. I'll dive in right way to explain why I think it's a great idea, what it has done for my career progression and what you should expect to get in return for these unpaid hours of time put in.

    Shadowing.

If you haven't come across the phrase before don't worry, it's a common adjective to describe the process of watching a photographer (or other creative) carefully but in silence and without interaction. Watching on the day of a big photo shoot will give you a first-hand experience into the world of fashion photography, without the pressure of needing to deliver and give images to the client at the end. You can find shadowing positions quite easily now with the advent of social media. I'm sure you know many photographers and creative members out in the world that you have on Facebook or Instagram. If you are feeling bold enough send them an email to ask if you can come along for the day just to watch them at work. Don't expect to be paid or even thanked, to them you're just an extra body on set so try and be as discreet as possible. Learn by listening and standing far out of the way, listen to how everyone interacts and try to understand why they're lighting something in a particular way. By no means should you try and get contact details from other members of the team, you're not there to profit in a business sense. Shadowing a photographer is a quick way to get escalated up to an assistant or paid role in the future, as your lead photographer might take a liking to you and appreciate the amount of work and enthusiasm you put into the day.

    _DSF0433

    _DSF0484

    Assisting.

There are several types of assistants, but typically you'd be a second hand for one of the main members of the team. The photographer's assistant would change batteries and lenses, the lighting assist would set up the lighting in accordance with the set designer and photographer, the hair assistant would make sure that the hair is still looking as desired whilst on set. Assisting can sometimes be paid, and is a great chance to network and know your fellow creatives. This is where I've carved out my niche, as one of the top lighting assistants in the South West England. I take on these large fashion shoots for free in a hope that they get published either as a webitorial or print. You can show off your talent and skill set to the other members of the team, in a hope that they will book you in for one of their shoots in the future, ones that can be paid. To expect to be paid just because you're one of the main members of the shooting party is a common misconception, you must decide whether the shoot is worth a day of paid or unpaid labour. Typically for publications, you're running on a shoestring budget, with the publication serving as promotional material for all members of the party involved.

Assistants can have assistants too (second assistants), and this is where you should aim to try and get into the chain of command. Even if you have the skills needed to produce killer makeup or photography, hair or set design, you need to be able to show everyone that you're willing, eager and committed to the cause, not just in it for the money. Work the hard life for a couple of shoots before you can get in at a higher end position.

    _DSF1251

    _DSF1259

Getting into the fashion photography industry can be challenging. The first option is to work your way up from the bottom, you as the lead creative and everyone else the same skill as you, or you can jump in and join a fully fledged team already running efficiently and earn their trust. The first option will take years, as your fame/marketing spread will increase proportionately with your skill knowledge. The second option will take much less time, but you have to earn the trust of these serious creatives, so have thick skin and be prepared to take on long and unpaid hours. The learning curve will be steep yet the rewards will come sooner. You might be taken on for a future project, the team might like you and form their own creative team with you included for a future project. Just be sure to know that your first few gigs will not be paid. I spent years working unpaid fashion shoots, and it only took three magazine front cover publications to be able to command a price as a light ing asssistant.

Trash the Dress Wedding Photography: Yay or Nay?

Trash the Dress photos are a far cry from being boring, or posed. Whether you choose to get a little messy or completely submerge yourself in the experience, these fun shoots let you inject plenty of personality into your wedding album. With a little help from these tips, you'll be ready to take the plunge and embrace this destination wedding trend!

    Don't Actually Trash The Dress

The idea of staining, soaking and destroying a pricey and much sought-after gown is enough to strike fear in the heart of even the bravest bride. But, fear not, most Trash the Dress session aren't actually as messy as they look. While you should be open to getting a little dirty and wet, a trip to the dry cleaners can do wonders on your dress.

    Trash the Other Dress

What's better than one great dress? Two! A Trash the Dress session is an excellent excuse for a second bridal look. Picking up an extra white gown also means you don't need to get the real thing dirty. Look for an inexpensive option in a lightweight, floaty fabric that will move well and won't weigh you down in the water.

    Embrace the Contrast

Trash the Dress photos are all about pairing a glamorous dress with an unexpected setting. For the most wow-worthy photos, scout out a location that's big on drama. Crashing waves, tumbling waterfalls, peaceful cenotes, jungle trails and snowy mountains all make striking photos.

    Get Active

With good posture and rightly held bouquets, you are sure to have plenty of perfectly-poised photos from your wedding day. Think of your Trash the Dress session less like a photo shoot and instead like having a professional photographer tag along on a favorite, or all new, activity. Go for a hike, try horseback riding on the beach or take the plunge with a swim. Whatever you do, embrace the fun and it will show up in your photos.

BUXTON, N.C. (AP) - A new island off the tip of Cape Point in North Carolina is attracting bird watchers and other tourists.

The Virginian-Pilot reports the sandbar is a mile long and three football fields wide. It's just off the tip of Cape Point, near the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

But crossing the 50 yards to the island can be treacherous. Dave Hallac, superintendent of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, says visitors should not try to walk or swim across.

Bill Smith, president of the North Carolina Beach Buggy Association, adds hooks from decades of fishing could be lying on the bottom, and sharks and stingrays prowl the water.

The 5 Best Laptops For Photographers: 15″ and Up (Mid 2017)

We recently shared our picks for the top laptops for photographers with screens under 14-inches, a very common size for photographers who travel often. In today's post we are going to take a look at laptops with screens 15-inches and up. These laptops are not limited to dual core processors and integrated graphics like the 14-inch and below models are (the Surface Book being the one exception in the GPU category), which means that you can get quite a bit more performance out of these machines.

The catch is, the more processing power you want, the more weight you will have to carry around and the less time you will be able to use your laptop on battery power. So it is all about finding that nice happy medium between performance and portability, render time vs battery time. We have gone through and chosen our top 5 picks for photographers based on criteria we feel is important for image processing including screen resolution, color accuracy, processor (count/speed), and ram.

*This list is not in any particular order, each of the options has advantages and disadvantages that may mean more to some of you than others.*

    Asus Zenbook Pro UX501VW

Taking its design ques from its smaller 13″ Zenbook brethren, this Asus Zenbook Pro feature a 15.6″ screen, a quad core Intel i7 processor, 16GB of ram, a 4K display and plenty of ports for connecting external devices. This is completely subjective, but we like the simple, clean, and minimal look of the Zenbook Pro.

    Our Recommended Configuration
  • Intel Core i7-6700HQ Quad Core
  • 16GB RAM
  • 512 GB SSD
  • 15.6″ 4k UHD Touchscreen Display
  • Nvidia GTX 960M w/ 4GB Ram
  • Buy on Amazon (Currently Listed at $1,678.99 ) Dell XPS 9560

Also a bigger brother to one of the 13″ models that we mentioned in our previous post, the Dell XPS 15 is a workhorse for content creators (including photographers) thanks to its high quality display, excellent battery life, dedicated GPU and quad core processor. This does also come with a full size SD card slot, which is getting to be more rare these days for some reason, but is a feature that we feel most photographers still want in their laptops.

    Our Recommended Configuration
  • Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad Core
  • 16GB RAM
  • 512 GB SSD
  • 15.6″ 4k  Touchscreen Display
  • Nvidia GTX 1050 w/ 4GB Ram
  • Buy on Amazon (Currently Listed at $1,758.49 ) Apple Macbook Pro 15

Similarly to the Dell XPS 15, the Apple Macbook Pro 15″  is a powerhouse on the MacOS side of the arena. If you are invested in the Apple ecosystem already, then it just makes sense to heavily consider these as your upgrade path. The jury is still out on if the new touch bar is useful for a photographer, but its hard to deny the potential of the feature.

    Our Recommended Configuration
  • 2.8GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
  • 16GB RAM
  • 1TB PCIe-based Flash Storage
  • AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB GDDR5 memory
  • Buy on Amazon (Currently Listed at Check on Amazon ) LG Gram 15

If you are just a fan of larger laptop screens, but still want to keep things light and portable with excellent battery life than the LG Gram should be near the top of your list for consideration. This thin and light 15″ laptop is one of the most affordable on this list as well as the lightest, but it also has excellent build quality all around – with a few notable caveats. This laptop only features a 1080p display, and though it looks great, it is a big shortfall compared to the others on this list. As well, it also does not feature a GPU nor a quad core CPU – basically, this is one of those ultrabooks from our 14″ and below post scaled up into the 15-inch form factor. Not a bad thing – but definitely something to note compared to the other options on this list.

    Our Recommended Configuration
  • Intel Core i5
  • 8GB RAM
  • 256GB SSD
  • Insane Battery Life
  • Buy on Amazon (Currently Listed at $1,118.38 ) Razer Blade Pro

The largest of the laptops that we will be talking about today, the Razor Blade Pro is primarily meant to be a mobile gaming laptop, but that means it comes with specs that likely rivals that of your desktop computer. It features a huge 17″ 4K display, as well as a full Nvidia GTX 1080 with 6GB of video RAM. We feel like this is honestly a bit overkill from a strictly photographer perspective, but if you also process video or like to game, than this laptop is a marvel of modern technological capability. That said – it's gonna cost you…. a lot.

    Our Recommended Configuration
  • Intel Core i7
  • 32GB RAM
  • 512GB SSD
  • Nvidia GTX 1080 w/ 6GB RAM
  • Buy on Amazon (Currently Listed at $3,999.99 ) Final Thoughts

So there you have it, our 5 selections for the top laptops currently available for photographers. There are, of course, other options out there but these 5 models stood out the most to us after taking a look at specs that we felt make the most difference to photographers, namely the screen (resolution and color accuracy), processor, ram, and storage (type and capacity).

Please don't just take our word for it though, do some research on your own for sure and make sure to select a model that fits your particular needs (which may differ from our general photographer needs in some way).
