Nicky Hilton has been reminiscing on the day she said "I do" to her fiancé James Rothschild, and to mark the first week of their marriage, the hotel heiress shared a tender snap on Instagram taken from her big day.

The photo showed Nicky, 31, kissing her new husband on the lips, while James, who looked dapper in a crisp black suit, embraced his beautiful bride.

"One week ago," she simply captioned the image, alongside a heart emoticon.

The new Mr and Mrs Rothschild looked to be in a world of their own as they shared the intimate moment, while one of Nicky's bridesmaids helped smooth out the bride's flowing train.

While many women stay tight-lipped about the details of their wedding dress, Nicky was always open about her dream of walking down the aisle in Valentino. Her show-stopping gown, which is said to have cost around £50,000, took pride of place in the photo.

The Valentino haute couture wedding dress was made with three different tones of ivory and silver guipure, and richly embellished with crystals. It was reminiscent of the Duchess of Cambridge's stunning gown, featuring long lace sleeves, a cinched waist and a flowing skirt.

Nicky and her banker beau married on Friday 10 July in a romantic ceremony in London. The couple exchanged vows in front of family and friends, including Nicky's sister and her maid of honour Paris Hilton, at The Orangery in Kensington Palace, just a stone's throw away from where Kate and Prince William live.

Other guests who were expected at the wedding included Paris' boyfriend Thomas Gross, Chelsea Clinton and her husband Marc Mezvinsky, and Florence Brudenell-Bruce with her husband Henry St George.

Close friend Petra Stunt and her husband James were also said to be attending. It was at Petra's wedding in Italy in 2011 where Nicky met her future husband James.

The bride and her older sister Paris, 34, got ready for the big day in a suite at Claridges. The TV personality shared a few snaps on Instagram of Nicky's wedding preparations, including one of the siblings wearing their matching dressing gowns, bearing the words bride and maid of honour.

Working: Auburn photographer Rene Roy, capturing one moment at a time

AUBURN — Among the tricks to Rene Roy's whimsical sleeping baby portraits: Make sure they're super young and have a waterproof bean bag underneath. To shooting pets: Keep calm, be quick.

To getting out of her own shell: Stop caring what others think, smile.

Roy started her photography business after graduating from college in 1998, shooting a mix of commercial, wedding and portrait work.

She has photographed happy couples. Dozing newborns. College professors. Annual reports.

"What I really like is when I feel like I got 'that shot,'" Roy said. "I had this one last year, the father was looking at the bride (with) a smile but almost like a sad smile at how beautiful she was, and she was looking ahead at her groom just beaming. It was just this moment."

When she was young, Roy pictured growing up to be an illustrator. She headed off to the University of Southern Maine to pursue a bachelor of fine arts degree with a concentration in painting.

"I started to be like, 'Well, am I going to be a famous painter? I'm not really sure about that,'" she said. "I spent a lot of time in the dark room taking photo courses. My photo teacher was really cool and helpful; he was actually a commercial photographer himself."

She drew inspiration from those classes, starting out as a freelance photo assistant around Portland. She hauled gear, worked with models and learned technical details like setting up strobe lights.

"I worked with a guy a lot who did a lot of stills for Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale's, kind of all their hard goods, like shoes and purses and jewelry and men's ties," she said. "You learn tricks about how to stuff a boot to look nice and straight and stand up. There's a lot of armature that goes on in some of this stuff."

Roy took a class on shooting newborn pictures after discovering it wasn't as easy as it looks.

"'That looks really clean and simple, I could do that,' and then I tried to do a couple and I was like, 'They're crying and they're not sleeping and this isn't working at all!'" she said. "They need to be 10 days old or less. That's where I was going wrong, (thinking) 'Well, I'll give them time and I'd do it when they are a month old.' They're too alert at that point."

Other secrets: The room needs to be hot. A full belly, or "milk coma," helps. And then, you wait.

"Those shoots are also about being really calm and really patient because they can definitely sense the feeling in the room," she said. "It's definitely the longest type of portrait shoot. Those usually take two to three hours."

When she shot for a dog catalog, first finding the dog models and then scouting locations, Roy took a similar approach. The mood had to be happy. Someone else would pet, pet, pet the dog to settle it into its pose.

"And then I'm like, click, click, click, click! And then the dog runs away and we do it again," she said.

In addition to her professional portfolio, Roy, who belongs to YPLAA, the L/A Arts board and the Maine Women's Network, also posts lots of shots of herself online, mostly silly self-portraits shot by remote trigger while she's trying to get the lighting for a client's shoot just right.

"If I've got to work, it might as well be fun," she said. "Photography actually helped me really come out of my shell. I was the art kid, for sure. I realized I needed to be (more outgoing), to direct groups and organize people, especially at weddings. It was a little hard, but you needed to do your job. Eventually you just realize it doesn't matter; either someone is going to like you or they don't."

Choose Your Perfect Wedding Accessories

You've spent hours looking and hours fitting, but you've finally shimmied into that perfect gown. Now it's time to find the icing on the cake. Translation: What are your accessories?

"Today's bride is all about her gown and overall look," says John Green, president of Lux Bond & Green. "The jewelry shouldn't distract from the gown and her aura. They should instead just add that element of 'wow' to her special day."

When choosing your wedding accessories, think KISS—and we don't mean your first kiss, but rather the old motto, "Keep it simple, stupid."

Green finds that simplicity works best for a bride. "It doesn't matter whether the dress is ornate or not," he explains. "Adding a necklace, earrings, or bracelet, not all three, can complement her special outfit without drawing attention directly to the jewelry."

The question is how to choose among this trio. "When her hair is up, earrings can both add the element of beauty, as well as help shape her face, depending on the styling," says Green. "Bracelets, especially on long-sleeved gowns, add that element of 'wow' if balanced with the right materials." He adds that necklaces work magnificently, depending on a bride's gown's neckline and body type, focusing the attention on her face and gown's overall beauty.

It's helpful to bring a photo of your gown along with you to the jeweler's when you're making your decision, taking into consideration how you're wearing your hair, as well as the sleeves and neckline of your dress. "It also depends on the age of the bride. The older she is and whether it's the first or second marriage always plays a role in the type of jewelry to accessorize the dress or gown," he adds. Think edgy ear cuffs for a younger look or a classic pearls for an older bride.

Also sometimes a family heirloom can become a nice focal addition to your dress, says Green. This accessory pulls double duty, evoking memories and looking beautiful.

And although a gorgeous pair of stud earrings can make for a classic, when it comes to big-day diamonds, it's the more the merrier, according to Green.

"Drop diamond earrings have become the hot item for the brides of 2015," he adds. "They spend a lot of time with their hair for the special day. And what could be more befitting than adding a beautiful pair of diamond earrings to her special outfit and smile? Drop earrings from about one to two inches with smaller diamonds in beautiful patterns are today's go-to bridal accessory."

And of course, your accessories can easily cover the "something blue" part of your wedding wardrobe. Consider stacking sapphire rings (on your right hand, of course) or adding bangles of blue.

Whatever jewelry you choose, the spotlight will nevertheless be on one single accessory to come: your new wedding ring.

A photographer stole the show during a wedding service when she fell into a lake while taking pictures of the happy couple moments after they tied the knot.

The unfortunate incident took place in Urbana, Illinois, and was captured on video by one of the guests, much to the embarrassment of the photographer involved.

In the clip, the couple are pronounced husband and wife and after receiving claps from the people in attendance, walk away to the sound of Felix Mendelssohn's Wedding March.

The couple make their way down the boardwalk while the photographer snaps pictures of them strolling hand in hand.

Hoping to get a number of high-quality shots, the photographer begins to step backwards so as the frame the couple, who continue to head towards her, as perfectly as possible.

The photographer takes a portrait shot of the pair and then flips her camera on its side with the intention of taking a landscape picture.

However, disaster strikes and as she goes to step backwards once again she steps off the boardwalk and loses her balance.

She then falls straight into the lake – to the sound of dramatic screams from some of the guests – while holding her camera high above her head in an attempt to save it from the water.

The groom runs to her aid and offers his assistance as a number of other guests join him in an attempt to rescue her from the lake.

Meanwhile the mus ic is rather hastily turned off – adding to the tension of the scene.

The woman is then pulled from the water and helped back onto the boardwalk. Looking slightly worse for wear she tells the bride that she is sorry before asking if the camera is okay.

The video concludes with guests attempting to find the woman a towel and the bride and groom heading off together.

Meet the undertaker couple who posed for their wedding photos with a coffin

A fatal train crash was the catalyst for a Singapore couple's death inspired wedding shoot – because the groom's parents were on board.

Darren Cheng and Jenny Tay gained the nickname 'the undertaker couple' after their wedding photos caused controversy when they were shot dressed to the nines sitting on a coffin.

Darren, 30, and Jenny, 29, run Direct Funeral Services in Singapore.

When the photos went viral the couple explained it was because they wanted to remove the 'taboo' when it comes to talking about death.

Considering they were surrounded by death 27/7, it was a fair call to make.

However it turns out it was a particular brush with death that sparked the shoot.

Darren's paren ts were passengers on the Amtrak 188 train, which derailed while travelling too fast from Washington to New York on May 12, 2015.

The crash tore apart passenger cars and sent seven off the tracks.

At the time they were described as being 'smashed like aluminum cans'.

Eight people were killed and more than 200 people were injured.

Darren's parents Andrew Cheng and Ong Lay Hong (both from Singapore) were on the train.

While the pair survived they were inside the carriage with all eight who died.

"His dad escaped with a stiff neck and his mum escaped with a bruised bum," Jenny told Yahoo7.

It's an act that could only be put down to incredible luck, and is one the young couple will never forget.

For them the wedding photos serve as a reminder of wh at could have been.

"The brush with death helped give us that push to honour life and to tell people to cherish things before they never get the chance".

The pair felt the photos 'summed up who they were'.

'We were surprised by the reaction," Jenny said.

"To most people a wedding and a funeral shouldn't be mixed together. For us our job is our life, that's why we decide to have a coffin in the shoot.

"It also matches our personal views. Death is definitely a part of life and it shouldn't be viewed as taboo."

From the photo s it's clear to see their love story is far from normal.

Three years ago, both ditched their already successful careers in Advertising and Counselling to take on the funeral business after Jenny's father, Roland Tay, fell ill.

Roland Tay is considered on the world's most respected undertakers – known for offering pro-Bono funeral services to families of murder victims and the poor.

It was big shoes to fill for a young modern pair coming into a very traditional industry.

But it's a move the couple have never regretted.

"I find it more meaningful to help people and I wanted to do what my father does," Jenny said.

"The funeral life allows me to feel like my life is fulfilled.

In the last three years they have worke d hard to shift the strong attitudes of Singapore's highly traditional funeral business and modernise it.

"The industry used to be very rough. When I first started it was very male dominated and it was a big culture shock," Jenny said.

"Most of the people in the industry were between 50 and 60 years old.

"I think we've made some important changes which have changed the perception of the industry".

One of those was drawing inspiration from the hospitality and hotel industry to provide a more comforting service for grieving families.

The couple also run a wedding flower business together – something that will no doubt come in handy when the pair get married in front of 700 people in October.

The pair met 15 years ago, when Jenny moved into the same compound as Darren.

They quickly formed a close friendship and 11 years later, discovered a romantic spark.

"It wasn't love at first sight but we were very good friends," Darren said.

He described their love as 'magical'.

While they're surrounded by the solemn and morbid on a day-to-day basis, the pair manage to keep the spark alive and they're dead serious about each other.

"We made it clear not to bring work home. The moment we tell each other it's couple time we try not to be affected by work," Jenny said.

In fact, being around death 24/7 has given the couple a better appreciation of life.

"We've come to cherish life a lot more in this industry… our relationships with our own families has gotten a lot better," Jenny said.

"The point is to live every day meaningfully, as you never know when you won't be around.

"People have the perception t hat the people who work in this industry are very solemn, but a lot are surprised to find we are both very happy, go lucky people."

Despite this, they're not afraid to talk about death and feel nobody should be, including children.

Mr Cheng is about to release a book 'Where did Grandpa Go?' which will help parents explain death in a child friendly way.

"The very first customer we had was my best friend. His father passed away and his nephew came up and asked 'hey where did grandpa go?'" Darren said.

"For kids it's pretty hard to explain death and the afterlife… this is the story of grandpa explaining to kids where he might go when he dies".

"We believe you shouldn't fear death in life and know that your life is limited".

Despite having mod ern views on death the pair said they remained quite traditional when it came to marriage.

"We believe marriage is a form of partnership, where you do things together in life," Jenny said.

"We feel truly happy as partners".

Staying true to their 'til death do us part' mantra, the pair planned to return to work as soon as possible after their wedding.

"We'll take a few days for the wedding then head back to work," Jenny said.

"They're both important things in life".
