A couple's wedding memories may be lost forever after their photographer's car was stolen from outside the South Perth Yacht Club where their wedding reception was being held on late Saturday afternoon.

The distraught photographer has appealed to the people of Perth to look out for his vehicle and its all-important contents.

"Chris" from A&C Photography was working at the couple's wedding at the South Perth venue and found his car stolen when he went to get more equipment around 5.30pm.

In his gunmetal grey Hyundai iX35 were other cameras with memory cards containing all the photos he had taken up until that point - including those of the wedding ceremony.

Chris told Radio 6PR his wife had parked the car just outside the gates of the club as the couple went to capture more images of the bridal party arriving by boat.

"I went to grab some more gear and there's a pile of glass on the ground - and no car," Chris said.

He said the whole mood of the wedding "went south" after the news broke.

"The bride was devastated. The cards had everything that we had shot up until then, including the bride and groom getting ready, the service, family photos and so on," Chris said.

One of the bridesmaids, Lauren, said at first the bride was really upset and had "a really good cry".

"Then she decided that there wasn't anything that she could do about it and was determined not to let it spoil her day," Lauren said.

The bridesmaid said that the photographer had one memory card that had captured some photos taken at the base of King's Park before the boat trip to South Perth.

"There's also plenty of phone pics - not perfect, but something. We're really hoping the photographer gets his equipment back," Lauren said.

Wedding photographer Chris said he didn't care about the car and other non-photographic contents.

"We need the memory cards, the computer and the cameras - the memories on those are irreplaceable," he said.

Chris has appealed for the equipment to be returned, particularly the cards, and said no questions would be asked.

"I'm pleading with whoever took the car to help us turn the bride's day around," Chris said.

"I'll even pay for the return of the cards and other equipment."

Radio 6PR talkback host Tony Mac made an impassioned plea for the thief or thieves to drop the equipment at the radio station, also home to WAtoday.com.au.

The late model car's registration number is 1EI0-816. It also has surf racks and a chrome nudge bar.

The bridal couple were hosting a luncheon on Sunday with relatives from as far afield as Scotland and America. Chris volunteered to cover the event.
