THE STORY

Hudson Evei knew exactly how to beat the Monday blues. On a quiet evening in January 2014, Hudson proposed to his longtime girlfriend Anna Jedrey during a romantic dinner at Top of the Hub. They had been dating for five years before Hudson proposed 52 stories above Boston's Back Bay. As he dropped to one knee just before the dessert course, she said "yes."

The wedding also took place in Boston—fitting for Anna and Hudson, who each have deep roots in Massachusetts. About 175 of the couple's closest family and friends filed into their ceremony at Arlington Street Church and attended the reception at the Four Seasons. Most of the wedding planning should be credited to Anna and her mom. With detail-oriented organizational skills and excitement brewing, the duo found checking tasks off the pre-wedding to-do list to be a piece of cake.

"I always knew I wanted to get married, but I never had a picture in my mind, so it all sort of just came together," Anna says. "It was very nice because it was a reflection of both Hudson and me rather than just a vision from when I was a little kid."

The couple first met through mutual friends one evening in August 2007. They went through a few trials as a couple, particularly in 2010 when Hudson shipped off to Hanover, New Hampshire, to complete an MBA in business at Dartmouth College. They made long distance work by trying to see each other every weekend.

"It was tough being apart for two years, especially so early on in our relationship," Anna says. "But before Hudson left, I remember my dad telling me that if it was meant to be, it would be, and he was right."

Before their own celebration, Hudson and Anna attended at least twenty weddings together. The first wedding they attended as a couple was in June 20, 2009, the same day they got married in 2015.

"We wanted to be in a city where we had strong ties, and we wanted to be able to revisit the memories we made on a frequent basis," Hudson says of the couple's decision to wed in Boston.

Harley is a Coton de Tulear and stood by Hudson as he got ready with his groomsmen. "I actually think [Hudson] may have been a little scared of dogs, but Harley turned him around and now Hudson is a dog lover," Anna says.

Hudson gifted his groomsmen teal Hermes ties to match Anna's bridesmaids' dresses. He says, "I wanted to get them something really nice, something that they could use later on, and something that could be a keepsake from that special day."

After binging TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress," Anna and her mom booked an appointment at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City. "It wasn't anything that I was looking for, it was completely opposite of whatever I thought I was going to wear, but I just felt like a princess in it, so I knew it was the right one," Anna says of her wedding gown.

The first look took place on the grand staircase of the Four Seasons, overlooking the Public Garden. "It felt like a fairy tale and it was one of the few moments during the day when all chaos around us seemed to disappear," Anna says.

With a big entourage, the couple entered the Public Garden on a beautiful spring day for a photo session with their wedding party.

Despite being a busy and packed Saturday afternoon, the photo shoot went perfectly. "The pictures came out looking like we were the only ones there," Hudson says.

The wedding ceremony took place in Arlington Street Church. The couple's reverend was one of Hudson's teachers from middle school. "It was important to make the day as personal as can be by having familiar faces in different roles," Hudson says.

The newlyweds left the church in a rented silver Rolls Royce Phantom.

Purple flower arrangements filled the reception room. The purple and teal color scheme was inspired by peacocks that Hudson and Anna stumbled upon while wandering through botanical gardens during a family vacation to Portugal.

The wedding cake was a layered cake full of a variety of different flavors, including peanut butter, chocolate, and vanilla. A dessert buffet was also offered.

Mr. and Mrs. Evei had their first dance to "Come Rain or Come Shine" by Ray Charles. "We wanted something more classic, something that would stick with us forever," Hudson says.
