The latest Arrow tease had stirred quite the speculation. Of course, we're talking about the infamous tweeted wedding photo of Felicity Smoak and Oliver Queen, together, at the altar, about to get hitched. Oh, and Felicity was standing. Adding to the hype was the man behind the tweet, executive producer Marc Guggenheim, and his explanation that the image was, according to TV Line, "Not a dream sequence. Not a hallucination. Not an alternate reality. Not a flash forward to a potential future."
But now the mystery has been solved!
The Examiner revealed that The CW released an official synopsis for the newest upcoming episode, "Broken Hearts."
Apparently, Cupid is coming back, in a love hurt vengeful kind of way. She's looking to get rid of anyone in love, and will go to any length to fill her twisted broken heart — and is going as far as killing couples on their wedding day!
Oliver and Felicity will get married this season, or at least showrunners want fans to think so. [Image via Twitter]Comic Book Resources states that in order to snag Cupid, Oliver and Felicity throw their very own fake wedding, which completely explains Marc Guggenheim's wedding post. He didn't say if it wasn't a stunt after all. Here's the official synopsis from the CW: "CUPID RETURNS TO WREAK HAVOC ON STAR CITY – A heartbroken Cupid (guest star Amy Gumenick) returns to Star City with one goal – to destroy anyone in love. The team learns she's killing couples on their wedding day, so Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) decide to pose as bait."
Meanwhile, fans were left in wonder after the latest episodes of Arrow showed Oliver's son, William, being kidnapped by Damien Darhk. This, of course, threw a wrench into Oliver's plans to marry Felicity, whom he had previously proposed to. While initially Felicity was able to table her feelings in order to help save William, afterwards, it went about as expected. Once William was rescued safely, Samantha took him away, with Oliver leaving him a message for his 18th birthday explaining who he is. With Felicity discovering that Oliver had been keeping William a secret from her, she gave the engagement ring back to him and walked out.
Yes, she walked out. This simple movement also clarified how Felicity was standing at the fake wedding altar across from Oliver. Curtis Holt finally came through on behalf of Felicity and implanted a bio-stimulant that allowed her to regain her walking abilities, albeit with the help of physical therapy.
While the mystery of the wedding photo has been officially solved, another bigger question still remains.
In the flash forward event first seen at the beginning of the season, Felicity waits ring-less in the car, and mystery person is lowered to the ground while Oliver and The Flash's Barry Allen look on.
Fans will probably have to wait until the last few episodes of Season 4 to find out who is dead. [Image via The CW]Nevertheless, it appears that happiness isn't going to be returning for Felicity anytime soon. Not only has the wedding been called off (for now), but in speaking with Entertainment Weekly recently, Emily Rickards revealed that the mystery person seen in the flash-forward is somebody close to her character."I think that it's someone closer to Felicity." Of course, this made some think that a wedding would be the least of Felicity's worries as it's speculated that it could be Felicity's mother who meets a fateful ending at the end of this season.
