Wedding photos are probably the most important and anticipated set of pictures a couple will ever have taken, but Norwegian newlyweds Erik Gjømle and Marit Therese Rognmo's images take things, literally, to a new height.
The imaginative couple asked photographer Stan Serdjukov to accompany them on a 3.4km hike to the peak of Vasstinden on the island of Kvaløya, 900 metres above sea level. They were married on Saturday 9 July in Tromsø, and climbed to the top of the Vasstinden mountain for the photos on Tuesday 12 July.
While eyebrows might be raised at the thought of Erik, from Bamble, and Marit Therese, from Tromsø, hiking in their wedding outfits, they wore ordinary clothes on the hike and changed into their wedding finery once they had reached the location. A friend of the bride also accompanied the newlyweds on their special trip to help out.
The newlyweds chose the location because they are very fond of walking in the mountains all year around, and love visiting Vasstinden. While there was snow on the peak and it was a little cold for the bride who had bare arms and a cut-out panel in the back of her dress, the couple were thrilled with the results of their unique photoshoot.
For photographer Stan, bringing a drone, camera and video equipment up to such a height wasn't easy, but he feels that the results were definitely worth the extra effort. He had only recently purchased the drone, so was excited to use it on this special project, and as you can see, the results are spectacular.
Now that the big day and ultra-cool photoshoot are over, Erik and Marit Therese are currently on honeymoon. As part of this, it probably comes as no surprise that they plan to take in a trip to the mountains in Chamonix in south-eastern France.
