NEWLYWEDS took the advice of their photographer and posed for an unusual photo in Helensburgh's town square – and now the picture has become one of their most treasured.
Heather and Darren Main, both 25, tied the knot in Helensburgh Parish Church, in the bride's hometown.
Heather always wanted to get married in Helensburgh as she has lots of fond memories of the area and it is where her family still stay today.
Heather told the Advertiser: "Helensburgh is surrounded by lovely scenery and is a lot less busy and congested than Glasgow, which made it a nice place for Darren's family, from Lossiemouth, to visit for the wedding."
The couple hired Ian Arthur of Ian Arthur Wedding Photography to capture all the key moments of their special day.
They both wanted pictures taken in the square next to the church, but Ian came up with the slightly unusual idea of taking a photograph in the middle of the road.
Heather said: "The recent landscaping of the square makes it quite an interesting place for photographs.
"It was mostly Ian's idea to go in the road though. I was a bit scared to be honest – that car you can see in the background was not stopping!
"The photo is one of my favourites now though as it is such a typical Helensburgh scene.
"I walked along that street to the shops so many times over the years so it's nice to have a wedding photo there."
When asked what made him want to take that particular photograph, Ian said: "I took it because sometimes I try to make my pictures a bit more interesting than the straightforward picture stood outside the church door. I couldn't resist taking this shot."
Heather thanked local businesses which helped make her special day such as Aimee Bridal in Dumbarton, Eutopia, who did the hair and make-up, Helensburgh Flowers and The Cruin.
The happy couple spent their day celebrating with friends and family in Helensburgh, before their reception at The Cruin on the banks of Loch Lomond.
Heather said: "It was an amazing day and the rain stayed off which was amazing for Helensburgh.
"Lots of our guests from further away commented on how nice Helensburgh was and even on how lovely the square looks.
"Our evening at The Cruin was perfect and we danced the night away with a ceilidh there."
