Photographers capture burn-off haze hanging over Perth city

Perth photographers have captured eerie images of smoke haze from prescribed burns blanketing Perth city and  the metro area.

The Department of Parks and Wildlife issued a smoke alert from Perth to Mandurah at around 5pm on Saturday evening, and warned residents to shut doors, windows and turn off air-conditioners.

It was expected the smoke would lift on Sunday morning, but some locals were quick to snap some spectacular images of the unique conditions.

The smoke was the result of prescribed burns 10 kilometres south-east of Mundaring, and another burn 30 kilometres south-east of Jarrahdale.
