"I struggled to imagine what my big day would look like because I'd never let myself believe I'd have one," the So Popular! host and activist, 32, told Brides inside the April/May issue. "I never imagined I'd be a bride."

To that, the photographer groom, who proposed to Mock after five years of dating, said, "I know she felt that way, and I say it's ridiculous. I'm the lucky one in this relationship. I'll be forever grateful that she chose me."

Ultimately, the couple decided on an outdoor wedding at Hale Koa, a private estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The ceremony was officiated by one of the couple's best friends in front of 76 guests.

"Having our family and friends in one place and so happy together, that's why you throw a wedding," Mock, who captured the public's attention in 2011, when she shared her story about growing up trans with Marie Claire, said. "That's why you spend the money and stress over the details."

But, she added, "there was an importance to this day that was about more than just exchanging vows. We wanted to show other girls growing up like I did that they can dream of a day when they'll be the bride."
