The Best Way to Take Family Wedding Portraits if Your Parents are Divorced and Remarried

Weddings bring out all sorts of emotions, and can get hard to navigate when family politics are involved. Divorced parents can complicate things even more, no matter how friendly your parents may be to one another. If one (or both) of your parents are divorced, the big thing that comes to mind is organizing family pictures at the wedding. How should you arrange separated, divorced, and remarried families for the portraits? Our experts have a few tips.

Whether your parents are still best friends or are barely civil to one another, you'll want to arrange for pictures with your individual families first and foremost, so put those at the top of the list. The two of you as a couple should take pictures with each parent, including their new significant other if they are in a relationship or are remarried. Inviting step-siblings to the wedding? Include them here, too.

If your parents are more friendly with one another, model your family pictures after shots including the bride and groom's parents: Have Mom and her new spouse on one side of the two of you, with Dad and his new spouse on the other side. You and your hubby might want to swap places halfway through so everyone has pictures standing next to their newly-married kid!

Planning on doing photos with your siblings included in the mix? If both of your parents will be in the picture and their step-kids will be, too, follow the above format, mixing your siblings in along with your Mom and Dad, then arranging step-siblings on the outer edges, on the same side as their respective parents.

If you want a big group photo with your family, his family, and all of your parents and siblings, you might need to do so on a set of steps if your growing family is big enough. Put siblings and biological parents in the front (along with their spouses), then arrange step-siblings just behind and above them.

For situations that are a little less friendly, you may want to skip the combined family pictures and instead focus solely on taking photos with each individual family, then combinations of sets of parents (the two of you with your mom and her husband with your groom's parents, then with your dad and his wife with your groom's parents, etc.).

Renowned photographer Steve McCurry vows to rein in use of Photoshop

SINGAPORE — Renowned photographer Steve McCurry has a career spanning more than four decades. His books are bestsellers and his photographs, which have been exhibited in Singapore, can fetch tens of thousands of dollars at auctions.

Some of his images are even considered iconic, such as the stunning portrait of a young Afghan girl that was featured on National Geographic's magazine cover in 1985.

But in recent weeks, McCurry's reputation and work have taken a severe beating after he was accused of excessively manipulating his photographs with imaging software like Photoshop. The controversy erupted earlier this month when one of the manipulated photographs - showing a street sign in Cuba cloned onto a man's lower leg - was spotted at an exhibition in Italy.

Photographer Paolo Viglione, who spotted the botched photo, posted the image on his blog. Soon, photo enthusiasts began uncovering more McCurry photographs that had been excessively manipulated, according to the Peta Pixel website. The alterations ranged from extensive colour processing to cloning (the process of removing or replacing elements of an image), and the removal of certain subjects from the photographs.

via GIPHY

Addressing the growing online criticisms in an interview with Time magazine on Monday, McCurry said he would rein in his use of Photoshop. And in comments that dismayed some of his fans, McCurry added that he was a "visual storyteller" and had never been a photojournalist, except for a short spell with a local newspaper in Pennsylvania.

"The years of covering conflict zones are in the distant past. Except for a brief time at a local newspaper in Pennsylvania, I have never been an employee of a newspaper, news magazine, or other news outlet. I have always freelanced," he told Time.

McCurry added: "Reflecting on the situation… even though I felt that I could do what I wanted to my own pictures in an aesthetic and compositional sense, I now understand how confusing it must be for people who think I'm still a photojournalist."

via GIPHY

In his interview with Time, McCurry also defended his own use of Photoshop, citing a December 1984 issue of the National Geographic which featured a photograph he took of an Indian man wading through a flooded street with his sewing machine.

"I recall when my horizontal picture of the tailor in India's monsoon was published on a National Geographic magazine cover, the water was extended down to fit the vertical format," he said. "That use of Photoshop ensured that a powerful image wouldn't be rejected because it was a horizontal orientation. Some would say that was wrong, but I thought it was appropriate because the truth and integrity of the picture were maintained."

But Sarah Leen, National Geographic's director of photography, told Time that while this sort of alteration was allowed 32 years ago, it was no long considered acceptable.

Several local photographers contacted by TODAY said that manipulating images meant for editorial use was only done sparingly — if at all — and mostly for colour correction. And while the use of Photoshop is more common in commercial or wedding photography, there are lines that they won't cross.

Photographer Aloysius Lim, who shoots for 39 East Photography, said he might, on occasion, remove dustbins or exit signs that look awkward in enlarged wedding photographs. "But I don't make the couple look skinnier or add more hair … anything to do with the human body, we don't touch," he stressed.

Pre-wedding photo shoot inside Mysore palace gets into trouble

City Police Commissioner B Dayananda on Thursday said that the department would conduct a probe into the reported photo-shoot inside the Palace. "We have to inquire with them to find out who gave them the authorisation to shoot inside the palace". "We will go through the CCTV footage and take necessary action".

Photography inside the magnificent palace is strictly prohibited. Chief Secretary of the State, who is also the Chairperson of the Mysuru Palace Board, is the competent authority for issuing permission. Though no time frame has been set for completing the inquiry, Mr. Dayananda said Mr. Shailendra has been asked to do so as soon as possible.

The Deputy Director of Mysuru palace, T.S. Subramanya, remained unavailable for comment.

The person who organised a pre-wedding photo and video shoot inside the durbar hall and kalayana mantap of Mysuru Palace is said to be the son of a retired civil servant.

Photographs of a couple, said to be Adithya and Navyatha, posing for the photo-shoot inside the durbar Hall were shared on social networking sites.

Please Wait while comments are loading... Referring to the photographs of the posing couple, Ms. Shikha said the photos do not appear to have been taken in a hurried manner. There are two entry points - one is used by the Mysuru royal family and another for public entry - which is monitored by Palace Board with assistance from police.

Even Rajnikanth's movie "Linga" was denied permission by the government to shoot in the Durbar Hall of the Palace.

Kim Kardashian's wedding dress throwback photo has left us very confused

Kim Kardashian's wedding dress throwback photo has left us very confused

Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye West returned to Italy for their second wedding anniversary.

The reality star also admitted that she "cringes" when watching early episodes of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians", because of her "crazy hair and bad make-up".

And it appears that Kimmy Kakes is still totally in love with the father of her children as she took to Instagram on Tuesday to gush about her man on their anniversary. "I would wear make up 24/7 if I could, but he likes me without it". KimYe's love story began many years ago, though, way back in 2004, according to a timeline made by Rolling Stone, when West was first introduced to Kardashian through her first husband, music producer Damon Thomas.

Say what you will, but this power couple doesn't look like they're dissolving their vows (or disappearing from the spotlight, for that matter) anytime soon.

It was actually the second Snapchat video of Kim in two days because she also documented her pregnancy test at the bathroom of an airplane the day before.

The Day in Pictures for May 24It was a bloody legacy that both countries have struggled to overcome in the years since the war ended in 1975. The US is taking advantage of Vietnam to stir up more troubles in the South China Sea, the newspaper said.

When the morning of their actual anniversary broke, Kim Kardashian chose to express her affection via an Instagram throwback post.

The June issue of Vogue Australia starring Kim Kardashian. "I try not to layer two different lengths, because I don't want there to be visible seams; I want there to always just be one seam".

Kim Kardashian said on her YouTube page that Strobing is basically the new Countour.

The reality star is now synonymous with a flawless contour, Bambi-like lashes and a ideal nude pout but she mentioned that she has a handful of make-up regrets which, unfortunately for her, have all been captured on camera.

"I think right now it's more about nontouring, like real skin with less make-up on it", Kim said Saturday. "If I feel cuter with a little lip colour and mascara, why should anybody else care?"

Biggest day of your life: Plan the ultimate luxury wedding in the UAE

Most couples grow up to discover that Prince Charming and Cinderella are very much mythical figures, but that doesn't mean the biggest day in their lives can't live up to the fairy-tale dream.

Luxury weddings are standard in the UAE, where the industry is worth more than Dh2.5 billion annually, according to the organisers of The Wedding Excellence bridal fair, which finished yesterday in Dubai. To demonstrate how elaborate weddings here can be, we asked for help from Jennifer McGarrigle, an Irish wedding planner with Dubai-based Exquisite Events, which specialises in Emirati women's wedding parties; and Patrizia Cilli, an Italian luxury events and weddings planner with The Wedding Excellence, whose A-list clientele includes Tom Cruise, George Clooney and Sir Paul McCartney.

The location

Each wedding location has something different to offer, but Cilli says the best are those that can be transformed to align to the theme you have in mind. "Basically, a space that engenders creativity," she explains.

Luxurious love

Most weddings at Dubai's Burj Al Arab take place in the regal two-tier Al Falak Ballroom, furnished in the style of an 18th-century Viennese opera house. But two floors makes it a hard sell for McGarrigle. "Nobody wants to split their guests," she says. "People tend to get married there because of its reputation. "

Price: Dh705 to Dh735 per person, for 150 to 250 guests.

Fit for a queen

Emirates Palace's marble-and-gold-furnished ballroom has the wow factor. The lavish room sparkles with 15 chandeliers made from Swarovski's premier Strass crystals, including a centrepiece chandelier that weighs 2.5 tonnes. The room accommodates up to 3,500 people, and can be split into three sections divided by a gold, padded, removable wall.

Price: Dh180,000 venue hire (or Dh60,000 per ballroom section), plus between Dh350 and Dh550 per head for food. Venue free from June 1 to September 30.

A touch of couture

"There is a deep appreciation in the Middle Eastern market for European – and specifically Italian – style," Cilli says. Palazzo Versace Dubai is dripping in overstated Italian elegance. Weddings for up to 500 guests are held in the neoclassical-style gala ballroom, which like all the hotel's rooms, was designed by Donatella Versace. For those who prefer a more modern feel, Armani Hotel's ballroom, for up to 450 people, features backlit resin walls, black Italian marble detailing and a dark-grey carpet. The outdoor pavilion, for up to 1,000 guests, boasts the iconic backdrop of the Dubai Fountain.

Price: Palazzo Versace is Dh400 to Dh500 per person. Armani Hotel is Dh300,000 for both indoor and outdoor venues.

VVIP XXL

Hotel ballrooms may be elegant, but if acres of space is what you need, the UAE's exhibition centres have it covered. Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) can accommodate up to 6,500 people; Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre can hold up to 5,000. "You can keep adding halls to increase capacity," an Adnec spokesperson told us. The price is bespoke, but "is sometimes in the millions".

Price: Packages at DWTC cost from Dh150,000.

Intimate

For a smaller wedding, hire the ultra-luxurious three-bedroom suite of the St Regis Abu Dhabi, suspended between the 48th and 49th floors of Nation Towers, with panoramic views of the city skyline. The 2,200-square-metre suite is spread across two storeys and has a spa, cinema, bar area and two kitchens. Weddings here are boutique (70 guests or less), making it all about privacy – guests are escorted by butlers to the venue via the suite's private lift.

Price: Dh50,000 to Dh250,000.

Great outdoors

At Madinat Arena in Madinat Jumeirah, you can throw a grand party for up to 4,500 people across a large lagoon. Built in the style of an old fortress, it features an exclusive entrance, a balcony with separate seating for close family members and a majlis area.

Price: From Dh210,000.

The memories

Wedding photography and videography is big business. Often, a whole team of photographers and videographers are hired, McGarrigle says. Two photographers and two videographers cost from Dh25,000, but if you want to go really high-end, Filmotography provides a team of producers, editors, directors, cinematographers, retouchers, colour graders and sound engineers for the big day.

Price: Filmotography's services cost from about Dh80,000.

The transport

St Regis Abu Dhabi offers a chauffeur-driven Bentley; Emirates Palace has a Rolls-Royce. You can also fly in by helicopter to Emirates Palace, Burj Al Arab or St Regis Abu Dhabi.

Price: A Rolls-Royce costs about Dh1,000 each way, McGarrigle says. Platinum Heritage in Dubai hires a classic 1965 Bentley for three hours for Dh800. Helidubai provides a one-hour helicopter charter for Dh10,028.

The entertainment

Celebrity singers are an option, if the money is right. "We haven't flown Beyoncé in yet, but we just suggested it to a client who is interested," McGarrigle says. "For our Emirati clients, we've flown in Abdul Majeed and Myriam Fares, and Sonu Nigam for Indian weddings." Musicians who have performed at Emirates Place include Fares Karam and Asma Lamnawar.

For Emirati women's wedding parties, male singers are forbidden from entering the ballroom, so they perform in a separate room. "We do live feeds using a projector screen," explains McGarrigle.

Price: Famous singers cost from about Dh320,000.

The food

Hotels offer tasting sessions before the big day. Ouzi is the preferred dish for Emiratis, with a selection of mezze starters. "We also get lots of requests for whole roasted camel," Emirates Palace's executive sous chef Carmine Pecoraro says. Emirati wedding food tends to be served "family style", with a few dishes in the middle of the table.

For western-style weddings, Cilli claims fusion cuisine is popular. "People are also gravitating towards a more organic, sophisticated selection because they're becoming increasingly conscious about their health. Truffles, buffalo mozzarella and fresh olive oil often make the cut."

Price: From Dh350 to Dh750 per guest.

The flowers

After venue hire, the second biggest wedding expense in the UAE is flowers. "It can be completely extreme," McGarrigle says. "We've hung flowers from the ceiling down to the tables; we've hung them like chandeliers. "

Price: McGarrigle says floral centrepieces cost from Dh2,000 to Dh25,000, while Cilli says some floral arrangements can cost up to €250,000 (Dh1m).

The decor

For Emirati wedding parties, a themed stage decoration, where the bride and groom bask in royal splendour, is the standout feature. Trends revolve around fairy-tale settings, as well as Venetian and Baroque styles. "The Gatsby theme was really popular for a while," McGarrigle says. "Minimalist black and white is in this year."

Some couples like to add their own twist. McGarrigle recalls a wedding for about 1,400 people at DWTC in which the whole ballroom "snowed". "We hung snow machines on the ceilings. There was snow everywhere. It was amazing."

The cake

Emirates Palace's chefs were once assigned to make an eight-metre-high cake for a royal wedding. "We often bring in a large false cake, with eight or nine tiers, made of styrofoam and with icing on the outside," McGarrigle says. "There is one real section for the bride and groom to cut into. Pieces of a real, pre-cut cake are then brought out for the guests to eat."

Price: From about Dh3,000 (sometimes included in a hotel package). "I've been quoted Dh15,000," McGarrigle says.

14 affordable wedding gifts that won’t make you look cheap

Weddings can take more than a year to plan and can cost more than many people spend on a car. When it comes to spending a lot on a wedding, it's not just the bride, groom and their families who have to pony up — guests often spend a lot on weddings as well, especially if they have to fly in from out of town and pay for lodging. While some couples request expensive gifts on their registry, there are plenty of ways to get creative and give the happy couple a thoughtful gift they'll love — without breaking your bank.

With June, September, and October taking the cake as the most popular wedding months, chances are you might have a wedding coming up sometime soon. Plan ahead with these unique and affordable wedding gift ideas.

1. Send Them to a Winery

With the stress typically associated with planning a wedding, gifting the couple a trip to a winery will give them a chance to relax and have some fun. If you live nearby, you could even take them yourself and bring along some snacks or picnic to celebrate the couple pre-wedding. Check out local deal sites for discounted winery packages. There are many deals on Groupon that offer wine tasting packages that include souvenirs at a cost of just $25 for two people or under $50 for four people.

2. Make a Photo Scrapbook

Create a photo scrapbook chronicling the happy couple's life together before the wedding day. With many people sharing photos on Facebook, Instagram and other social media, it shouldn't be hard to find photos without asking them and ruining the surprise. Make the photo scrapbook by hand with an elegant book from Target or craft store for under $20, or order a digital one online. Shutterfly, for instance, has a variety of wedding photo book options starting at $15.99 and up.

3. Personalize Some Wine or Beer Gifts

For the couple who loves to drink beer and wine, give them something fun to drink it out of with some Mr. and Mrs. beer or wine glasses. Most sets are under $25. You could also add a personalized wine stopper for under $15 to complete the themed gift.

4. Help With a Wedding-Related Task

A successful wedding requires a lot of work from a lot of people. Think about what you're good at and offer to help instead of getting a traditional gift. The bride and groom will likely love the chance to get rid of one of the many duties on the wedding checklist. Offering your help with wedding set up at the venue the day of or with the clean up afterwards won't cost you anything — just your time. Your friends are much more likely to remember you for cleaning up everything for them at the end of the night instead of some plates you got them that got buried with all of their other gifts.

5. Map Out Their Love

For a personal gift that won't cost you much, grab a cute picture frame or a shadow box. Find maps — either old atlases or even printed Google maps — for locations that are special to the couple. For example: where they met, where they got engaged and the location of their wedding. Cut out that part of the map in a heart shape, and glue the hearts to cardboard or thick paper. Then simply add those to a frame or shadow box. You can make this for under $20 if you print out the maps yourself and find an inexpensive frame or shadow box at your local craft store.

6. Turn Their Wedding Invitation Into a Gift

If the previous idea sounds like too much work, here's another unique and thoughtful gift that's practically hassle free. Save the couple's wedding invitation when you get it in the mail and frame it as a memento for them to keep in their home. To make it extra nice, add matting to match the invite or find a frame that matches the style of their wedding. If it's a vintage theme, go with a vintage frame; if the wedding was super modern, use a slick black and white modern frame and matting. You can get a nice frame and matting for under $30, so this gift will hardly cost you anything.

7. Share Your Favorite Recipe

For the couple who loves to cook and try new recipes, put together a food basket with one of your favorite recipes and all the necessary ingredients. If it's pulled chicken barbecue sliders, grab the chicken, your favorite BBQ sauce, buns, cheese and green onions. Add some beer or dessert, along with cute napkins, and this won't cost you any more than $40. You could even offer to cook the meal for them then get out of their hair so that they can enjoy a romantic dinner alone.

8. Buy Them Brunch Before the Wedding

Surprise the couple with a gift card to their favorite brunch place before their wedding. Giving the gift before the craziness of their wedding day means they'll be more likely to remember and appreciate it. Plus, then they can use it before the wedding to de-stress and have some time to relax at their favorite restaurant.

9. Create a Personalized Wedding Guest Book

As a great alternative to a plain wedding guest book, order a unique one from Etsy. You can find the perfect one to match any couple or wedding theme. Personalize it with their name and wedding date, and you can get a memorable gift for under $30. If you're feeling creative enough, you could even make them one yourself.

10. Find a Personalized Wedding Sign

If you don't think the couple will need a guest book, but you still want to surprise them with a neat personalized gift, go for a wedding sign with their names and wedding date. It will serve as a beautiful decorative piece in their home and will remind them of their wedding day — and you. There are many beautiful wedding signs on Etsy for under $40.

11. Help Them Relax With Wine

Sure, wedding planning can be fun, but it can also be tiring and stressful. Help the couple relax by giving them some of their favorite beer and wine. Grab them a bottle or two of some inexpensive wine or a couple six packs of their favorite beer and your gift won't cost more than $40.

12. Help Them While They're on Their Honeymoon

Offer to pet sit or house sit for the couple when they're away on their honeymoon. This will save them a lot of money if they have pets, and you can make sure their mail doesn't pile up. This is another gift that doesn't cost anything besides your time. Go the extra mile by stocking their fridge with essentials like milk, orange juice, eggs and their favorite foods for when they return home. It will help make the dreaded transition from traveling the world back to the real life a little easier and shouldn't cost you more just $20 or $30 — depending on how well you decide to fill the fridge.

13. Offer Elegance With Monogrammed Towels

Giving the gift of a monogrammed hand towels or wash cloths can be a nice reminder of the couples' union — and the bride's new last name. Amazon has some monogrammed hand towels for under $15, and you might even be able to find some cheaper and more unique on Etsy. That makes this an elegant gift for under $40.

14. Give Them a Gift Card — or Just Cash

Let's face it, everyone appreciates the gift of cash or gift cards. One of the best, and easiest, gifts you can get for the bride and groom is a gift card to Target or Amazon or just some cash in a nice card. This way, they can get what they want when they need it.

Instead of spending more than you want on a wedding gift for your friends or family member, use one of these ideas to save money without sacrificing quality. Best of all, you won't spend the wedding annoyed at how much it's costing you.

Dodgy wedding photographer delivers Tampa Bay bride 700 unedited photos

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – One bride who complained to 8 On Your Side about undelivered professional photos – four months after her wedding – now has nearly 700 unedited images from her special day.

"I'm so happy to at least have something," said Tayler Eskew. "I thought I might never see these photos."

It's not what she paid for though. Her $4,500 package is supposed to come with a print, and none of the photos she received are edited. Many have color issues that need correcting, but Eskew is happy with the quality of the photos and hopes Eskew will finish the job. She's worried though because emails to the photographer still have not been returned.

  • Still, she's the only bride who contacted 8 On Your Side and then received photos.

A growing list of Bay area brides are fed up that they paid thousands of dollars to a Sarasota wedding photographer and received nothing in return.

Brides tell 8 On Your Side that photographer Naomi Chokr stopped returning their phone calls and text messages, and they fear they'll never see their photos. Yet, the photographer has continued to work, shooting other weddings and working on a blog about food.

  • The contract Eskew signed stated she would receive her photos 8 to 10 weeks after the wedding. At first, there were excuses, and now nothing. All communication has been cut off.

"She won't answer calls, texts, messages, not only from me and my family but two wedding coordinators and two wedding venders we worked with," she said.

And she's not the only one. Another bride, Alicia McBratney, contacted me, too. She's been waiting on her photos for seven months.

"She won't return my calls," McBratney said. "I don't know what happened."

There are reviews online from other upset brides and one Sarasota woman sued the studio after she paid for a newborn photography session in September and received nothing.

Chokr has not returned phone calls but sent this email to 8 On Your Side:

"I, just like you want to do what is right for my clients. It has never been my intention to hurt anyone. I started this business and pursued this dream of mine to document weddings because of my love for the emotions, connections, and moments that happen during a wedding. I cherish and have so much love for my clients and the moments that transpire during their special day. It is just very unfortunate that I have suffered a terrible tragedy a year ago that has caused my work to suffer. I do not wish this on anyone and only hope that the pain and tragedy that I continue to go through…others will not have to experience. The timing of this all spilled over into the weddings I've shot and it has affected the delivery of my work. Know that all images are safe and my clients will receive them. I'm unfortunately human and anyone who has ever suffered or is suffering from a tragedy would understand the difficulties it takes to heal and perform. I'm sorry from the botto m of my heart for hurting anyone. If I could take any pain and anger away I would. Thank you for taking the bride's side… I understand 100% and take responsibility for my actions. I will be in touch with my clients and do right by them."

14 Wedding Gift Ideas Under $40 That Won’t Make You Look Cheap

    wedding gift ideas

You could also add a personalized wine stopper for under $15 to complete the drinking gift.

You can get a nice frame and matting for under $30, so this gift won't cost you hardly anything.

Add some beer or dessert, along with cute napkins, and this won't cost you anymore than $40.

They might have all joined the Victoria Secret ranks at the same time last year, but that doesn't mean Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner will get an invite to Bridget Malcolm's wedding in two months.

The Perth-born model, 23, opened up about her upcoming, low-key nuptials to Walking Shapes musician, Nathaniel Hoho, her "sexy", slinky wedding gown, and her guest list when speaking to Fairfax Media ahead of the Oscar de la Renta Fashion Week show at Sydney's Carriageworks on Friday night.

When asked whether there would be any celebrities in attendance at the July 23 nuptials in what she described as "Amish country" Pennsylvania, in particular Jenner and Hadid, the bubbly beauty said: "No, it's not going to be anything like that.

"All my family and my closest friends will be flying in, it will be really fun."

Sticking to her roots, Malcolm will wear a not-so-traditional gown by Australian label Lover when she walks up the aisle.

Despite her years of just 23, she doesn't feel like she is rushing into marriage with Hoho, who she has known for around ...

"It's sexy, but I quite like it. It fits. I put it on and felt like it was the one. I had shivers, it was amazing," she beamed.

Despite her years of just 23, she doesn't feel like she is rushing into marriage with Hoho, who she has known for around five years and been dating for two.

"I really feel that he's the one," she explained. "He is the only person on this planet that I want to spend the rest of my life with. He's the best person that I have met and he just makes me feel really good about myself when I am with him, so I am really OK with spending the rest of my life with him."

The pair will be marry on July 23 in what she described as "Amish country" Pennsylvania.

The main wedding (there will also be a wedding party on Rottnest Island in November) is in the northeastern US state, because Hoho "grew up in Mifflintown, which is like Amish country," she laughed. "He has a bison farm in the middle of nowhere... No, no, he is not Amish," she added.

    Family planning

Although starting a family is certainly on the cards, Malcolm feels like she might be too young for children just yet.

"I want to have kids definitely, it's on the horizon but I am still a kid myself, I have a few more years of being a kid," she said.

When the time is right, she won't worry about a family hindering her modelling career.

"Definitely not in this day and age," she said. "I feel like models bounce back after having a baby and they usually come back with a better body than before - not that has anything to do with having a baby... I think it's going to be super easy for girls."

She said times have changed for models and that becoming a mother almost makes them more marketable.

"People are very interested in how models stay in shape these days, especially with pregnancy weight. Everyone wants to know how you get it off and how you are healthy," she explained.

She mentioned fellow Perth model and new mum, Nicole Trunfio, and her 15-month-old son with Gary Clark Jr, Zion: "That girl is a babe and her baby is so cute."

Malcolm flew back Down Under from her US base for MBFWA, and sat front row for some of the top shows, including Toni Maticevski, By Johnny and Rebecca Vallance. She didn't partake in any of the shows, but said she still had "so much fun".

"I wasn't really sure how I'd be at the other end of fashion shows but I had a really good time. It's been interesting and I hope to do it again in the future," Malcolm, who was wearing a Burberry dress, Ellery blazer and vintage black hat, said.

Asked if she would be popping back to Perth for a quick visit, she said: "I wish, I don't have time. I have a few more days in Sydney before I fly back to America but I hope I'll be back sometime soon."

Does Music Soothe the Savage Photo Editing Beast?

Last weekend, my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful spaghetti dinner at the house of wedding photographer, and fellow survivor of the Australian music industry, Col Hockey. As the night drew on and we sat around the warm glow of his Spotify account, taking turns picking dinner party background music, we set our minds to solving all of the problems inherent in the modern wedding photography world. We discussed gear, marketing, and the mountain that must be climbed: the post-wedding cull and edit. We're both musicians, so the thought of spending days editing in secluded silence seemed completely alien, but it got me wondering if we were making the right choice.

The very next day, I read a post on Facebook from another prominent wedding photographer proclaiming to have found the greatest YouTube mix of inspirational editing soundtracks. That post has since been removed (did I dream it?), and although I did listen to it at the time, my computer is set to private browsing, so now, I'll never be able to find it again. Well, I could ask my friend, but who has time for that? Two mentions of the same topic in as many days is witchcraft in my book, and I took this as a sign that I should look deeper into the world of background editing choices. It turns out there's been a lot of studies done on this over the years related to both information retention and performing repetitive tasks. A quick Google search can find plenty of evidence both for and against background music, but the larger consensus seems to sug gest that some level of background noise helps keep focus or, at the very least, increase the enjoyment level of the activity. It seems like familiar music or sounds can trigger the dopamine centres of the brain, raising your happiness levels and associating that happiness with the task at hand. I'm a huge fan of dopamine, so that's a good enough endorsement for me; turn it up to 11 please.

A lot of the studies suggested that instrumental music was better for study as it wouldn't put extra load on the language sections of the brain you were actively using while reading large areas of text, but that singing along to music raised your enjoyment levels with repetitive tasks that were less taxing on brain power. But what should I be listening to? Editing thousands of images isn't really as language intensive as in-depth study, but you are required to be mindful and creative, so I took to Facebook to see what my peers are putting into their earholes.

I put the call out across a range of photography groups, from wedding and portrait photographers, to landscape and travel shooters, and I got a huge level of feedback. I don't have a degree in statistics, so I decided that in order to make the math easier, I would just use the results from the first 100 responders, and this is what I got:

  • 95% of responders used some kind of background noise, but 1 of the 5 that preferred silence did admit to spending a lot of time trying to click his mouse to a specific rhythm.
  • 53% listened to music of some kind, 26% used TV or movies, and 14% preferred hearing people talking (talk-back radio or podcasts), leaving 2% who liked the ambient sounds of coffee shops or thunderstorms.
  • Of the 53 music listeners, the largest selection, with 52% of the vote, chilled to acoustic or quiet, lyrical songs, 20% kept things classy with opera, classical, or instrumental soundtracks, 16% rocked out, 8% had the funk, and 4% partied to electronic beats.
  • The video users rated TV shows and movies at 65%, educational or instructional YouTube videos at 23%, recordings of sporting events at 8%, and 4% liked long-form documentaries. Netflix was mentioned many times by this group and seems to be a popular photography app.
  • 7% of the people who liked hearing people talking liked it more if they talked in a language the listener couldn't understand.
  • The 2% of people that liked the ambiance of coffee shops didn't actually like the inconvenience of coffee shops and opted instead to emulate the sound through Coffitivity.
  • I know what you're thinking: "Best record collection ever!"

So, the science is still divided on whether background noise is actually helping or just a placebo, but in this age, where sensory input is everywhere, and I don't leave the house without nearly every song ever written in my pocket and a pair of headphones in every bag I own, the thought of working in silence fills me with terror. If I sit quietly in a bathroom stall for more than a couple of minutes, my brain starts to burn up ideas faster than Johnny Mnemonic. I hate to think what would happen if I left it to its own devices for hours at a time.

But what about you? Do you find you can work in silence, or does the void stare back? Do you prefer music, talking, or just a quiet coffee shop? Do you have a favourite editing playlist? Do you refuse to edit to anything but vinyl? As soon as we settle this case once and for all, we can move onto whether you edit better drunk, or sober. Argue your case in the comments below.

Maci Bookout Wedding Update: ‘Teen Mom OG’ Star’s Date And Location Reportedly Revealed

Maci Bookout and her fiancé Taylor McKinney might be heading to Florida for their fall wedding. The "Teen Mom OG" star and her beau have kept quiet about the date and location of their nuptials, but the information was seemingly revealed thanks to an online argument Bookout's wedding photographer had with another bride-to-be.

So when is Bookout's big day? It appears that she and McKinney will say their "I do's" on Oct. 8 in Tallahassee, Florida. According to Starcasm, Bookout's wedding photographer, Brittany Photographs, got into a heated spat with another bride named Rebekah because her wedding is the same day as Bookout's, and Brittany canceled on her to be there for the MTV star.

Rebekah apparently complained about the cancelation on social media, causing Brittany to respond in a lengthy Instagram post. The outlet reported that Brittany wrote that she initially turned down Bookout because she didn't want to cancel on Rebekah. However, the pair supposedly started bumping heads along the way, which led to Brittany giving Rebekah a full refund and advising her to find another photographer.

Rebekah and Brittany continued to go back and forth telling their sides of what happened, but fans were more interested in figuring out when Rebekah's wedding was because it would then tell them when Bookout and McKinney were getting married. Starcasm reported that Bookout's fans were able to find Rebekah's wedding registry online, which listed her big day as Oct. 8. Brittany's photography website also said that she would be away working on a wedding that same day in Tallahassee.

Bookout has yet to comment on reports of her wedding date and location being revealed. But the reality star did previously say that she and McKinney would be tying the knot in October. The 24-year-old also said she plans on televising her ceremony for "Teen Mom OG."

"[Catelynn Lowell] has given me some tips on having the camera crew and MTV be a part of it," she told Reveal UK. "Filming is a lot of work. So having that added stress can be a little tough. She's been talking to me about how to handle it, so that's been niece."

As previously reported, Bookout is currently pregnant with her third child and is expected to give birth at the end of this month. In April, she revealed that will name their baby boy Maverick Reed.  "Maverick was actually one of our boy name choices when we were pregnant with Jayde before we knew it was a girl," the red-haired star told MTV News. "Reed is a family name for both our families. We were also considering Connor for the first name, but we decided Maverick went better with the names Bentley and Jayde."

Photo: Arsenal star Hector Bellerin all smiles with stunning girlfriend at wedding

Hector Bellerin has grown accustomed to donning a suit in May given Arsenal's dominance in the FA Cup in recent years.

The Gunners won the competition in 2014 and 2015 after beating Hull City and Aston Villa at Wembley to become the record winners of the FA Cup.

However, Arsenal made a premature exit in the quarter-final this season after a surprise 2-1 defeat by Watford at the Emirates Stadium.

And Bellerin swapped his FA Cup suit for a wedding suit on Saturday as he joined his beautiful girlfriend Berta Requeno for a photo with the newly weds.

The Arsenal defender's girlfriend posted the above photo on her Instagram page and wrote: "Long live the bride and groom"

Bellerin enjoyed a good season for Arsene Wenger's side after a return of one goal in 37 Premier League games for the north London outfit.

    A Passion for Photography

To live his dream, a young banker and graduate of Public Administration from Babcock University, Isaiah Gbenayon Ogun, jettisoned his banking job to take up his passion – photography – a skill he honed as a banker. In this interview with Mary Ekah, Ogun who is the Chief Executive Officer of Euclase Photography, says he derives more satisfaction taking pictures

At what point did you take up Photography as a profession?

I started my career with Cross and Churchill group where I worked as a business development officer. I Joined Diamond Bank Plc. in 2011 where I worked in the International Operations Unit of the bank as a Trade Customer Service Representative and as a Reconciliation and Monitoring Officer. In my struggle to live my belief,  ''be what you want to be'', I quit my banking job to take up photography, a skill I had been nurturing while working as my first business.

Why did you leave banking for photography?

Although banking was good, however, my love for photography grew and I chased it to a point where it became evident that I needed to take a huge career risk/switch. As a banker, my lifestyle had to be patterned alongside my job. As a photographer, my job is in consistence with my natural lifestyle.

Did you get any formal business training before you left your paid employment?

I did not get any formal business training per say though I had completed some short business programmes while I was working. Most of the trainings came from the short banking experience. Even though I did more of self-learning, my curiosity led me to take up tutorials at the prestigious London School of Photography (LSP). I am a member of the renowned photo club (The Photographer's Gallery London), a student member of the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP), a member of the Professional Photographer of America (PPA). So far, I have completed a few photography assignments in different states in Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates and different parts of the United Kingdom.

What aspect of photography do you focus on?

My major interest is corporate and wedding photography. Sometimes, I do more. I have attended various business programmes and seminars such as Business Communication and Etiquette, Poise Nigeria Limited (trained and certified by the Protocol School of Washington) and Customer Service Excellence (Customer Centricity, Nigeria). In just a few years, I have transformed my weekend hobby into a full-time career, creating demand for my unique, high-end corporate and wedding photography. I wish to bring fresh professionalism to the field of photography in Nigeria and Africa at large.

What do you think about the Nigerian creative industry?

The Nigerian creative industry in recent time has developed tremendously contrary to what used to be. These days, it is relatively pleasing to the ear to hear someone call him/herself a photographer, a makeup artist, clothe maker etc. The creative industry has been immensely tapped into as it has provided succour to huge unemployment challenge in this nation. The idea of "white collar jobs or nothing" is becoming obsolete as such you now get to see a BSc or MSc holder become a clothe maker, hair expert, (Tricologist), Videographer etc. At the end of theday itis all about the perception and the business culture the creative mind builds around his work. In terms of reward, in line with international best practices, I feel Nigerian creativeminds are still relatively underpriced. For every value brought to the market place, there is a charge but here a lot of people still find it easy to ask for free service forgetting that the creatives have bills to pay and are also e ntitled to the good life. However, those who value great jobs pay appropriately.

What is your educational background like?

I studied Public Administration. I graduated from Babcock University in 2009. I completed the NYSC in 2010.

While growing up, what profession did interest you initially?

Growing up, I wanted to be a Lawyer. However, providence charted a different course.

When you established your company, you named it Euclase Limited. What informed the choice of such name?

Euclase is a type of crystal actually (precious stone). It could have been Ruby or Diamond Photography. Euclase is usually unheard of which is in sync with the business value we are trying to sell: rare quality.

How many employees do you have?

Presently, I have two direct employees and eight indirect employees.

In what ways do you think government can support SMEs?

Importantly, the best support government can give is providing the enabling environment. Let there be uninterrupted power supply, affordable housing and reasonable SMEs credit facility. The Bank of Industry (BOI),I think, is doing a great job in this regard.

What would be your advice for youths that want to leave paid employment to start their businesses?

Before you leave a paid employment, you have to first of all articulate your thoughts as to why you want to leave. Some people leave their paid employment for various reasons such as: Not willing to have a boss control their lives; I will make more money doing my own thing.

I will get the freedom I need, that following your passion is always the best or that paid employment is ''corporate slavery''. If your reasons to ditch your current job evolve strictly around these, I say to you, have a rethink because you are going to have your customers and even your boss shred you sometimes in a humiliating manner. You might not actually make more money from the beginning. Also, the mentality that you now have freedom doing your own thing is a mirage because the thought of waking up in the morning to remember you do not have a fixed pay day can be very disturbing which is not a ''freedom'' feeling per say. Following your passion is not always the best especially when you have a family and a lot of dependents and also paid employment is not ''corporate slavery''. People have found true value and meaning to their lives working for organisations. The first question you need to ask yourself no matter how optimistic you are is; if my success expectations in this new venture delay or even becomes more difficult than I imagined, and do I have enough courage and drive to chase my dreams? That being said, you need to have a resignation plan and stay committed to it. You must find a way to chase your dreams while working without rubbing your employer off his work time. Above all, chase your dreams to the point where it becomes necessary to take the huge career risk.

How did you get funds to start your company?

Well, from the first day I joined the bank. I presumed every salary was my last. Not because there was a lay-off threat but because I had a plan I needed to stay committed to. My first camera (600D) was but with a lease. Asides that, a chunk of my monthly income was going into the account of my photography equipment vendor. When I needed anything, I just went there, got what I needed and they deducted it from my cash credit with them. So it was basically strategic savings.

    How profitable has it been?

Well, photography can be profitable especially when people value your work and it even gets more profitable with time as experience and skill increase. Just like any other business, there are highs and lows. However, I do not regret the career shift I have made so far. Improvement can only be incremental.

New Hampshire photographer takes wedding photos to new heights

    NORTH CONWAY, NH (WHDH) -

He's a man who's taken romance to new heights, capturing the look of love shared between newlyweds on a ledge more than 400 feet above the ground.

"I have a healthy respect for heights let's put it that way," photographer Jay Philbrick said.

He discovered the ledge in North Conway, New Hampshire while working as a climbing guide.

"I always wanted to get a couple there," he said.

An idea that resulted in stunning wedding photos that many believe are photoshopped.

"I was, that first time was, yeah it was pretty unforgettable," Jay remembered. "I'm just going, 'I hope this works.'"

It did. Christie and Kevin Coleman are one of the couples that said 'I Do' to the unique opportunity.

"We wanted something where we had a memory," Christie said.

"They are pretty much one of a kind," Kevin said.

Getting the shot isn't easy. Couples must rappel down 40 feet to the ledge. Jay venturing down with them, while his wife, Vicki, gets more shots from above and across the way.

"We are happy to do it because it's a lot of fun," Vicki said.

Christie took it one step further and dangled off of it.

"The dangling part wasn't hard at all," she said. "I think I was comfortable with the fact that of what's underneath you. Either that or you're just numb to it."

Newlyweds aren't the only people to go over the edge. Philbrick has worked with dancers and models as well.

"It definitely gets your adrenaline rushing, but at the same time its awe-inspiring," model Sarah Maillet said.

A different view of the world that Philbrick doesn't plan to give up anytime soon.

"As long as the body keeps going, as long as things keep bending and work and I'm not in too much pain, I'll keep doing it," Philbrick said.

While it may look dangerous, Philbrick wants to assure people that it is extremely safe since people are always tied in and anchored to the ledge.

The Bachelor's Sam Wood and Snezana Markoski 'not rushing' wedding or house move

Sam Wood and Snezana Markoski enjoyed a whirlwind romance when they met on The Bachelor last year and fell head-over-heels in love, and while their union was public and fast-paced, their wedding and plans to move in together will be anything but.

Speaking to Fairfax Media at the launch of the new Weet-Bix Blends range on Tuesday, the loved-up pair, who could barely keep their hands or lips off each other, said they wanted to do their wedding "privately" and "properly", and "not rush it".

Explaining that they are just starting to enjoy "some normalcy" in their lives, they have yet to set a wedding date after their December engagement.

"No dates yet," Snezana said, while keeping one hand on her husband-to-be's lower back.

"Sometime next year. It's been a crazy 12 months, let's just take a deep breath and do it properly and do it privately," Sam explained.

They both said they would no longer consider a TV wedding.

While Snezana added: "... and not rush it."

    'No TV wedding'

The word "private" had a crushing effect on this reporter, who loved watching their (as they say in The Bachelor biz) "journey" that started from the moment Sam's eyes nearly fell out of his head when he clocked the Perth scientist.

But despite some pleas that they might change their minds on the idea of televising their "I dos", which they said in the past they would consider, there was a resounding "no".

"No TV wedding," Snez said, while Sam followed it up with: "There might be some photos but I think that will be it."

They were shtum on any further wedding details, but they did confirm it will be Melbourne based.

Like the wedding, moving in together is not on the top of their priority list either, despite the pair buying a charming three-bedroom house in a family-friendly Melbourne suburb last year.

"We are getting there. We bought a house, we are just getting it ready. [We are] slowly but surely decorating that and turning it into our little home," Sam explained.

Usually finishing each other's sentences, Snezana added: "In the near future hopefully."

It was suggested a move could take place during the end of Snezana's daughter Eve's next school term, but they both said: "I don't know". "Maybe," Snezana suggested.

Speaking of Eve, they both lit up when they spoke about flying to Perth together on Wednesday to celebrate her 11th birthday.

"She'll always be my baby," Snezana gushed as Sam joked about the mum-of-one walking Eve hand-in-hand to school everyday, despite the gates being "just 25 metres away".

    'Curious' for Richie

They are "curious" to watch Richie Strahan on the upcoming Bachelor.

"I had never seen the show before being on the show," Sam laughed. "It'll be weird to watch and think, 'I know what's happening here,' or 'I don't know what's going on here.' I'll be intrigued."

He couldn't be busier at the moment as he enjoys the success of his 28:28 exercise program and running his Melbourne-based gym The Woodshed.

The health and fitness guru  says Weet-Bix Blends are a "good, easy, healthy option. They are low in sugar, low in salt and you can add fruit to it and mix it up."

In fact, he eats the cereal for breakfast a "couple of times a week" – an astonishing "8 to 10" pieces at a time to be exact.

Survey Says: American Weddings are Too Damn Expensive

Every year, The Knot compiles statistics from thousands of weddings in their annual Real Weddings Study, and we get to learn all sorts of things about the ins and outs of what makes up a wedding in America. While there's plenty of interesting statistics, such as how 83% of couples used a smartphone in planning their wedding, the marquee stat is cost, and for the past five years that number has crept onwards and upwards to a brand new record that's just insane when you compare it to the average wedding in Europe.

    $32,641.

That's just crazy talk. No, I don't think it's crazy to spend $32k on a wedding, but I think it's madness that a number that high is the national average. Americans are spending nearly 2/3rds of their median household income on a party (with an average of 139 guests, mind you).

Why have a wedding when you could buy a boat?

Europeans seem to have it figured out. They spend an average of $5495 on their weddings. That's right, the average American wedding costs six times that of their European counterpart. Sure, everything's bigger in America, but there's more going on here. I blame the Disney Princess culture where girls are encouraged to envision their dream wedding from the moment they can walk. CNBC blames Pinterest. It's probably both of those things, along with a culture that typically sees personal debt as an acceptable away of life and does a poor job of educating our children about preparing for their futures. Sixty percent of those same frugal Europeans polled said they would rather splurge on their new house instead of an elaborate wedding.

As a photographer, I am actually a part of the $60 billion a year American wedding industry, and even I agree, as a culture, we need to rethink weddings. And this goes beyond the common complaints against couples that don't blink at $5,000 in flowers, but want a discount on their $2,000 wedding photography. It starts with this bit of advice we give to every client: "Don't do anything for the sake of doing it."

It's your wedding. Not anyone else's. You could go to the courthouse for $50 and achieve the same end-result. Ultimately, a wedding is just a party to celebrate your relationship. Don't over-think it. Keep things simple and both you and your guests will have a better experience.

Just don't forget to tip your wedding photographer.

Bridesmaid Stops Photo Shoot, Saves Drowning Gosling Instead

A bridesmaid stopped and abandoned the wedding photos after she jumped into the lake to rescue a gosling from being drowned by a black swan.

Faye West noticed the swan taking away and drowning the gosling when the official wedding photos of her sister, Hannah West, and Mark Jeffries were being taken. The wedding party were getting their pictures taken on the lawn at Dumbleton Hall near Evesham, Worcestershire, with the lake in question being in the background.

Faye immediately kicked off her heels and dove straight into the lake when she spotted the gosling being stolen away from its parents. The swan was trying to kill the gosling. As reported by the Sun, Faye pulled the swan away from the scared gosling and returned the baby bird to safety.

The rest of the day passed without a mishap for the wedded couple. "It is making us newlyweds smile during a week where we are breathing a big sigh of relief that the big day went well and with no gosling fatalities in the photos," Mark said.

Wedding photographer Rosie Hardy photographed the incident and shared it on Facebook. "Shot my first wedding of the spring yesterday with Adam Bird supporting, knew it was gonna be difficult with everything going on," Hardy wrote on Facebook. "Didn't, however, expect a bridesmaid to jump into the lake mid-formals to save a baby gosling being stolen from its parents and drowned by a big black nasty swan! Faith in humanity: restored. What a hero!"

Meanwhile, as reported by the Gloucester Citizen, Faye will be getting married in September. "I don't think there's a lake at her venue though," her brother-in-law jokingly said.
